DAILY ITINERARY:
DAY 1: LONDON HEATHROW - STONEHENGE - SALISBURY
Arrive at London Heathrow and meet your tour manager / guide at the airport. Board the coach and head towards Salisbury in southern England. On the way we will visit Stonehenge, one of the best known prehistoric complexes in the world, dating back to the first Iron Age and dedicated to the solar cult. Admire the intriguing circle of imposing stones, a megalithic monument considered, according to different theories, a druidic temple or astronomical observatory. Stonehenge is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Free lunch. At the end of the visit, departure for Salisbury, a picturesque city located in the county of Wiltshire, on the banks of the River Avon. Famous for the typical atmosphere that surrounds it, especially given by its ancient houses, streets and medieval churches. Salisbury's most iconic place is its Cathedral, a superb example of medieval architecture. Welcome dinner at the hotel and overnight stay in Salisbury.
DAY 2: SALISBURY - DORSET’S JURASSIC COAST - PLYMOUTH
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by coach to the stunning Jurassic Coast of Dorset to visit picturesque Lulworth Cove and the remarkable sea arch of Durdle Door, before passing through the town of Poundbury, which was co-designed by Prince Charles (now King Charles III). Free lunch. We continue through Devon to Plymouth, which was the port of departure for the Pilgrims who sailed to America on The Mayflower in 1620. Free evening and overnight stay in Plymouth.
DAY 3: PLYMOUTH & MAYFLOWER HERITAGE - ST AUSTELL, CORNWALL
Breakfast at the hotel, then a guided tour of Plymouth, telling the story of The Mayflower, including a photo stop at the Mayflower Steps, the last place in England where the Pilgrims stood before sailing to the New World. We visit the Barbican, with its Elizabethan cobbled streets and buildings, then enjoy gin tasting during a guided tour of Plymouth Gin, which has been there since 1793 and is the oldest working gin distillery in England. Originally a monastery dating from the 1300s, it is believed some Pilgrims dined there the night before they departed on The Mayflower. Free lunch. In the afternoon we travel by coach to Cornwall and visit Polperro, a characteristic fishing village with typical houses built on the slopes of inlets overlooking natural white sand beaches. We continue to the hotel in the St Austell region for a stay of 3 nights.
DAY 4: LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN - ST. MICHAEL’S MOUNT - ST. IVES - ST AUSTELL, CORNWALL
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by coach to Pentewan to visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, among the most beautiful and magical places in the region, created between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 20th century. We continue to St. Michael’s Mount to visit the impressive Benedictine monastery founded in the 11th century by Edward the Confessor. During high tide the promontory transforms into an islet that can only be reached by boat. Free lunch. Afterwards, we head to St. Ives to enjoy some free time to explore the seaside town favoured by famous artists of the 18th century. Its labyrinthine alleys are full of life and offer evocative views and local craftsmanship. Later in the afternoon, we return to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 5: TINTANGEL CASTLE - ST AUSTELL, CORNWALL
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, we depart by coach to Cornwall’s northern coast, famous for its breathtaking views and fairy-tale home of the legends of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. Arrival in Tintagel where the 1998 excavations brought to light the "Arthur Stone". Visit the ruins of the medieval castle, perched on a high cliff, also known as “King Arthur's Castle”. Free lunch. Return to the hotel in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the leisure facilities and overnight stay.
DAY 6: CORNWALL - GLASTONBURY - CHEDDAR GORGE - BRISTOL
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by coach to Glastonbury, considered to be the cradle of Christianity in Great Britain where, according to legend, Joseph of Arimathea (the man who had Jesus buried and collected his blood in the Holy Grail) arrived here on a journey. Here we will have a tour of Glastonbury Abbey with costumed guides. Our journey through Somerset takes us to the Cheddar Gorge, where we stop to visit the local working dairy and learn about how they make cheese. The accompanying film takes you through the entire 7-hour cheese making process whilst you watch the live action. Afterwards, you can find the perfect cheese for your palate with a selection of samples available from the tasting counter. We continue to the hotel in the Bristol region for a stay of 2 nights.
DAY 7: BRISTOL - CARDIFF - ST FAGANS - BRISTOL
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by coach to Cardiff, capital of Wales, for a visit of the city, with the Town Hall, Courthouse, Norwegian Church, Castle and the Senedd (seat of the Welsh government). Free lunch. Afternoon visit of St Fagans National Museum of History. See traditional trades and activities in the workshops, where craftspeople demonstrate their skills, and their produce is usually on sale. Native breeds of livestock can be seen in the fields and farmyards, where demonstrations of farming tasks take place daily. Visitors gain an insight into the rich Welsh heritage, culture and language. Return to the hotel in Bristol for overnight stay.
DAY 8: BRISTOL - BATH - AVEBURY - LONDON
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by coach to Bath, known for natural hot springs and Georgian buildings dating back to the 18th century. Guided visit of the city and the Roman Baths, one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world. Free lunch. Afterwards, we make our way to London through scenic landscapes of North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known for its rolling hills and picturesque villages. Along the way, we’ll stop to explore the prehistoric wonder of Avebury Henge and Stone Circles, one of the largest and most enigmatic Neolithic sites in Europe, that are thought to date back over 4,500 years. Unlike other ancient stone circles, Avebury allows visitors to walk freely among the stones, offering a unique, immersive experience. Surrounded by tranquil countryside, this mystical site invites visitors to reflect on its ancient purpose and spiritual significance, as well as to marvel at the impressive engineering of early societies. We continue our journey to our hotel in London for a stay of 2 nights.
DAY 9: LONDON - FREE DAY
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time available today for individual activities in London. You can explore the city at leisure, using public transport. There are also plenty of free places to visit, including the National Gallery, Tate Modern, the British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Science Museum, Imperial War Museum, National Maritime Museum, The Queen’s House, and Kenwood House. Overnight stay in London.
DAY 10: LONDON & DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for individual visits of London. Transfer to London Heathrow Airport for return flight.
