One City Wonder: Munich, Germany plus Regensburg and Augsburg (Dec. 2-9, 2025)
TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Join us for this special One City Wonder tour to Munich, Germany, during the annual Christmas Markets. This classic destination will be supplemented with optional tours to Regensberg, a medieval town with 2000 years of history and a UNESCO World Heritage “Old Town, and Augsburg, the oldest city in Bavaria and home for many years to the Mozart family. You will have time to visit Regensberg’s and Augsburg’s Christmas Markets and to enjoy lunch on your own and some shopping. Below is a general description of what Munich itself has to offer.
Liquid bread--that is how Bavarians refer to their most precious drink, beer. And what delicious brew it is! Although many European countries claim their beer is the best, Germans know their recipes are golden. And there is no place better than Munich--Germany's third largest city--to experience beer-drinking culture at its finest, including at the outdoor Viktualienmarkt, where you can savor some fresh sausages and other delicious specialties along with your mug of "bread."
But Munich is much more than just a beer-drinking capital. It is a beautifully charming city with impressive gothic architecture, lovely cobblestone squares, fantastic museums, endless entertainment opportunities and delicious, hearty food. First established by monks in the early Middle Ages, Munich has had an impressive history, and as the center of Nazism during Hitler's Third Reich, was bombed heavily by the allies during World War II. Although tainted by the stigma of National Socialism, Munich has been painstakingly rebuilt and retains a positive self-image as a modern, forward-looking city grounded in Bavarian tradition. Located not far from the Alps, Mad King Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle, Augsburg, Regensburg and Dachau, Munich is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding attractions. During winter, the Christmas Market in Old Town is the place to enjoy the holiday spirit. And, of course, no visit to Munich would be complete without ducking into the famous Hofbrauhaus to clink gigantic liter glasses of beer around solid oak tables while munching on a homemade pretzel and listening to live Bavarian music.
If all of this sounds like fun--and it is!—sign up now before it is too late!
